Fourth Grade Writing Units
Narrative Writing:
This year, students will write fictional narratives that put the reader inside of their story. We will use various mentor novels to guide our writing, add figurative language, and create a movie scene with the five senses.
Techniques for Raising the Level of Narrative Writing
Opinion/Persuasive Writing:
This year students will take a stand to make a change at Ford and then in the world. We will finish this unit with TED talks. I cannot wait to hear their passion to make a change!
Literary Essays
In fourth-grade our big focus is identifying and comparing themes. We will kick off this unit by reading well-known picture books. Students will then work on finding themes in various texts and their own novels.
Informational Writing
Our Informational writing takes a look into Colorado History. Students will choose a famous Coloradan to write about and discuss their timeline, impact on Colorado, and the overall theme of their life.
