IB Language and Literature 11 is a year long honors course. It follows the IB curriculum, but students may enroll whether or not they are part of the IB Diploma Programme.
A description of the course from the English A: Language and Literature - Course Companion reads,"this course is meant to be a broad engagement with both language and literature through the study of a wide range of literary and non-literary texts in a variety of media. By examining communicative acts of all sorts, by discussing these and secondary texts with your classmates, and by working through problems with the help of your teacher you 'will investigate the nature of language itself and the ways in which it shapes and is influenced by identity and culture'" (1).
After this course, students not in the Diploma Programme might choose to continue with the second year of the course, take AP Literature and Composition, or take senior year electives. Students will be prepared for each of those options.
Most class assignments will be available via Google Classroom.
