Meet Mrs. Macklem

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. After I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992, I taught for Omaha Westside Community Schools for five years. I taught kindergarten, third grade, and sixth grade. I was also assigned the Primary Excellence in Youth Gifted Coordinator at my elementary building site for two years. In 1998, I received my Master's Degree majoring in Reading from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Then, I moved to Colorado, and I've enjoyed teaching at Highland for twenty-three years and continuing my role as a life-long learner. I've taught second grade for sixteen years and third grade for seven years. I want you to know that there is no place I would rather be, and no job that I would rather have.

On a more personal note, my husband, Wade, and I will celebrate our 22nd anniversary this fall. Wade is a Finance Director for a software development company. We have an 19 year old son, Gabe. He graduated from Arapahoe High School last spring. He attends Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
