After missing the regular season, Littleton HS sent our first open team, the Rasta Lions, to state at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. We were a motley crew of 10 guys and 3 girls. After playing really well the first day, including a surreal game under the lights in the rain, the team was too beat up on Sunday to perform well, and ended up tying for 13th. Mary Rosenberg was coach.
Littleton HS sent a mixed team, the Ultimate Roar, to state at Broomfield Commons and placed 9th of 18 teams. The second day of the tournament was pushed a week later because of crazy snow. That beautiful day we won the “nineals” for 9th place and felt very successful. Mary Rosenberg was coach.

Littleton HS sent both a girls’ and a boys’ team to the East Invite at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The boys played a great final and lost to Boulder, placing 2nd. The girls played a heartbreaker semi in the intense wind, losing 2-3 to Fairview after a hotly disputed call and placed 3rd. Jon Patterson coached the boys and Mary Rosenberg coached the girls, assisted by Maggie Chen.
Both the Lion Ultimate boys and the X-Chromosome girls placed 3rd in state. The guys lost their semi to Lakewood and beat East at universe point for 3rd. The girls lost their semi to Monarch and beat Broomfield in a 5-0 “surrender” for 3rd. Jon Patterson coached the boys and Mary Rosenberg coached the girls, assisted by Maggie Chen.
The Ridisculous mixed team finished 8th at the Monarch Invite losing a “fun” game in extremely windy conditions to Arapahoe. Mary Rosenberg was coach and was assisted by Jon Patterson.
The Ridisculous mixed team competed at state finishing 13th. The team was awarded the top spirit award after all teams submitted spirit scores after each game. Mary Rosenberg coached and was assisted by Jon Patterson.
The East Invite was cancelled due to snowy weather.
In a state tournament with two lightning delays, the X Chromosome girls continued to improve throughout the weekend, losing an abbreviated game to CIVA for 6th place. The boys played a tough pool where unknown teams showed up and were surprisingly good, finishing 12th. Jon Patterson coached the boys and Mary Rosenberg coached the girls, assisted by Maggie Chen.
Lion Ultimate mixed team went 3-4 at the Monarch Invite, holding seed by placing 8th on a hot October weekend. Head coach Mary Rosenberg was assisted throughout the tournament by Jon Patterson, Maggie Chen, and former LHS player, Bryan Meinert.
The mixed team placed 9th at state, after beating Arapahoe and Jeff-Co Open School to win the “nineals”. The season started with a rainy first practice, was warm and dry throughout, with no cancellations or postponements due to weather. Coaches included Mary Rosenberg, Jon Patterson, Maggie Chen and Bryan Meinert.
At the East Invite, our girls won their first game of the season in intense wind. The X Chromosomes consisted of 20 female players this season, 10 of whom were brand new to ultimate. These spring tournaments often end with severe weather, so games often do not get played at the end of the tournament, resulting in ties. The girls tied for 5th. Mary Rosenberg coached. The open team placed 12th. Jon Patterson was coach.
Girls continued to learn and improve at state. We did not play out our last game, due to wind, and tied for 7th of 11 teams. Mary Rosenberg coached the girls, assisted by Maggie Chen.
The open team held seed of 14th at state. The guys had a small roster and held their own against tough DI competition. Jon Patterson coached along with Bryan Meinert.
After being seeded 8th at the Monarch Invite, our mixed team placed 6th, going 3-1 Sat. and 2-2 Sunday. Mary Rosenberg coached and was assisted by Jason Cole.
Our regular season record of 7-1 earned us 3rd place in league play. Our great defense surprised number 1 seed Lakewood at state Sunday morning; we lost to them by 2. We held seed by placing 7th out of 40 or so teams. Mary Rosenberg coached and was assisted by Jason Cole and Jon Patterson.
Since the East Invite Tournament has been discontinued, the Biggleton Saucegods boys’ team played a tournament at Monarch HS and placed 6th.
The girls hosted an 8 team girls’ tournament at LHS called Spring Rendezvous. After starting out with a promising win, the X Chromosomes went 1-3, due to low numbers and injuries.
LHS kids and Rosenberg taught ultimate to 8th grade gym classes at Goddard Middle School, partly in thanks for them allowing us to use their fields. The Goddard Ultimate Experience was great fun and well received.
Mary Rosenberg coached the girls and Maggie Chen coached the boys.
The LHS girls finished their regular season with a 3-3 record. Teams are required to give spirit scores to their opponents and our team received low scores at Spring Rendezvous. After combining with Cherry Creek (4 home-schooled girls) to increase numbers, we became “Little Creek” at state. The girls finished 5th out of 10 teams and were ranked 2nd for spirit.
The boys went 6-2 during the season and held seed placing 7th at state.
Mary Rosenberg coached the girls and Maggie Chen coached the boys.
This was a weird fall season as both the Monarch Invite and State ended up to be one day tournaments as the Sunday games were cancelled due to snow. At the Monarch Invite, the mixed team won one and lost two games.
The mixed team was a fun group with a lot of girls. We often played 4 girls/3 boys which is not the norm. We were unable to win a league game until our 8th game against a very young George Washington team.
We played Division II at state and had a good experience the first day, winning 2 and losing one game. Then the snow began to fly... We were unable to get enough players for the rescheduled semi-final game. The team placed 4th in DII and 16th overall. We received the second highest spirit ranking in DII after CIVA, who won DII. Mary Rosenberg coached the mixed team with some help from Jon Patterson.
The boys' team competed at the SICkO tournament and got a lot of excellent experience as they continue to work on their fundamental skills and strategies.
The Littleton Dandelions hosted 5 teams at the Spring Rendezvous girls' tournament at LHS, where we won 3 and lost 1 game. Spring Rendezvous is developing into an exciting event which includes a discussion at lunch on equity issues.
Our girls' team placed 3rd at state! We had only 10 players on the team throughout the season, which made things difficult at times. We picked up a couple of girls from Fairview the 1st day at state, which helped. A high point of our season was beating Arapahoe 3 times. Mary Rosenberg coached the girls.
Our young boys' team struggled at DII state, but continued to hone their skills and develop mental toughness. Maggie Chen coached the boys and was assisted by Alika Johnston.
This fall mixed team was unusual as it was made up of a core of experienced, mature girls, a bunch of energetic, younger guys and a couple of capable, older guys. We only played 5 regular season games, going 2-3, and played the Monarch Invite, winning just one game. A couple of our league games were played on snow covered fields. Mary Rosenberg coached the mixed team with assistance at the beginning of the season by LHS grad Andy Goffredi, Jon Patterson, Joan Isbell, and Alika Johnston, along with several of her Molly Brown teammates.
We did not qualify for Division I, so played DII at state. We played Centaurus HS 4 times throughout the season, winning every time, and beat them 14-11 in the DII final. Ending the season by winning every game at state and was a lot of fun! We are proud to represent LHS as Division II state champs.
2020 - COVID-19 pandemic
2021 - November
After ending the spring 2020 season as games barely began (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and completely missing the fall 2020 and spring 2021 seasons, we were super-psyched to have a somewhat normal fall mixed season this year. The weather was warm and beautiful! Our small and young team, with the addition of a couple out-of-district boys, went 3-3 in the Altitude Youth Ultimate league. A couple of Arapahoe kids joined us at state where we went 3-3 and earned 6th place. The mixed team was co-coached by Mary Rosenberg and Mo Scott.
2022 - April
Littleton hosted 5 local teams at our Girls’ Tournament. Two individual LHS girls picked up with Monarch as we did not have a girls’ team this season.
Our open team joined with Arapahoe due to low numbers. Frustrating weather conditions delayed some games and made others pretty difficult for play.
2022 - October
Our mixed team won all 5 of our regular season games and was ranked #1 in state for a couple weeks. Competing at Monarch was difficult as we were short on girls. We won a close game v Denver East to get to the quarter-final and lost to a tough team from Early College in Colorado Springs. We forfeited our semi-final due to lack of girls and held seed at 4th. Arapahoe coach, Will Sweeney, served as head coach at Monarch and was assisted by Mary Rosenberg and James Knoblauch.
2022 - November
Our mixed team placed 7th at state. 27 kids from 7 schools joined together as Lions to finish the tournament with a 3-3 record. Our loss v Denver East prevented us from advancing to the semi-final. Playing mostly 5:2 (guys:girls) all season made it hard to adjust to playing 4:3 at state with 11 girls from 4 different schools. Arapahoe coach, Will Sweeney, served as head coach and was assisted by Mary Rosenberg and James Knoblauch.
2023 - May
Like last spring, Littleton and Arapahoe kids played together as the AHS Warriors open team. After competing in a "fun" tournament in April and winning it, the state tournament was abbreviated due to wet fields. We only got one game and lost it to a tough team from Colorado Springs. Our team won two weeknight games after the weather improved, ultimately placing 5th at state. Will Sweeney served as head coach.
2023 - November
The Littleton and Arapahoe combo team included players from a couple other schools. We renamed ourselves the Sparrows. We finished the regular season with a 7-1 record. In many of those games we won big.
Like it has been for us since COVID, we were short on female matching players. We were able to pick-up some FMP for the second half of the season which really helped. Still, our small team was unable to win even one game at state and finished 8th. Once again, it was Denver East who knocked us out of a chance to play a semi-final game, after beating them two times throughout the season. Will Sweeney served as head coach and was assisted by Mary Rosenberg.
2024 - May
The combined Littleton/Arapahoe open team, once again, was low on player numbers. Practicing on a small field with not enough players as well as not having a ton of subs at the state tournament makes it hard. So, the Sparrows didn’t win a lot of games at state, but we ended on a high note with a win under sunny blue skies on the turf at Long Lake Regional Park. Will Sweeney served as head coach and was assisted by Mary Rosenberg and Gus Mitchell.
We did get into gym classes at 4 LPS middle schools to help promote our sport this spring. Most of the kids on the team showed up on one or more days to inspire those middle school kids to play.
We probably had the most fun banquet ever at the family cabin of a couple of our players!
2024 - November
After graduating 8 players in May, we remain short on numbers and are still combined. The Sparrows played in Division 2. Our good news is that we added several younger players this fall including a few 8th graders, so we are definitely in a growth pattern.
We won 4 of our 5 regular season games (I remember when we routinely had 8 games, 4 at home and 4 away) and went 3 - 3 at state placing 6th. We were knocked out of the quarters by our new least favorite team, the Compass Unicorns. Their style of play was not to be admired. Will Sweeney served as head coach and was assisted by Mary Rosenberg and Gus Mitchell.
