Homework

Math Facts: By the end of the year, students should be able to answer a math fact within 3-4 seconds without using their fingers to help them. Learning the basic addition and subtraction facts will help them in later grades.

Sight Words: A list of the First Grade Sight Words will be sent home every nine weeks. Periodically, your child will be assessed on the sight word lists. The goal is 80% accuracy for each. Once your child has mastered a list, please move on to the next list.

Reading: Please have your child read to you or an older sibling at least 10 minutes per night. Listening to your child read is a great way to help your child practice skills and become a more confident reader.

Writing: In first grade, students will write detailed paragraphs in a variety of genres. Please help your child by having them write one or more sentences about their day 3-4 times per week.

For example: Today we played a crazy game called Balloon Race. It was fun!
