Classroom Information

Grades

It is important for parents to be fully aware of their child's progress. Any papers completed are sent home weekly in the Friday folder, and grades are entered into Infinite Campus. Not all work is done on paper, however, so there may not always be paper copies coming home. We try to incorporate hands-on learning, as well as all of our common assessments being online. However, you can view your child's grades online at any time through the Parent Portal. You must have an account username and password set up. Please contact the Central Office at 229-245-2250 for information on setting up your Parent Portal account if you do not already have one. You know your own child and his/her capabilities much better than I do, especially at the beginning of the year; so, please check your child's grades weekly and contact me whenever you have a question about his/her grades or progress.

Behavior Plan

Teams will use Class Dojo to track positive and negative behaviors. You will be able to track your child’s conduct at any time by logging in to Class Dojo

Fifth Grade Conduct Policy & Procedures

For the most part, there are few behavioral problems. Students are busily engaged in classroom activities and closely monitored when transitioning to different locations around the campus. We have high expectations for our students and are rarely disappointed. Parental involvement and support is greatly appreciated, and we would like to thank you for your support.

One cumulative conduct grade is issued for all classes. Every student will begin each nine-week grading period with a grade of “S”. Students will receive positive and negative “Dojo” points. If a student breaks a rule, they will receive a negative Dojo. One verbal or written warning will be given as a courtesy to a student in hopes that his/her conduct improves before a negative Dojo is given. Warnings have no bearing on a student’s conduct grade. However, teachers reserve the right to bypass a “warning” for behaviors that are extremely disruptive, consistent, or dangerous.

Grading Scale:

S = Satisfactory - The student has an overall positive Dojo percentage of 85% or higher.

N = Needs Improvement - The student has an overall positive Dojo percentage between 70% and 84%.

U = Unsatisfactory - The student has an overall positive Dojo percentage of 69% or lower.

Explanation of Consequences

Rules

Some examples of inappropriate behavior that could cause the conduct grade to automatically drop one letter grade include (but are not limited to):

Students could be sent to the principal or assistant principal depending on the severity of the infraction, or at the discretion of the teacher.

Positive behavior is contagious and is rewarded in many ways. Positive Dojo, praise, positive referral to the office, free time, extra privileges, and good notes/phone calls to parents are a few examples. We thank you for your help with encouraging your child to be a good citizen. We are looking forward to working with you and your child.

 Thank you,Fifth Grade Team
