Hello my name is Rena Taylor
I have been an art teacher for twenty-nine years. I began my career at Clinch County High School in Homerville, Ga. I taught ninth through twelfth grade Visual Arts there for three years. I then took a six-year sabbatical to stay home with my children. Following my sabbatical, I taught for two years at Faith Christian Academy in Valdosta as a first-grade teacher before returning to the public school system. I began my tenure in the Lowndes County School system in 2000. Clyattville Elementary School has been my home away from home for twenty-six years. I love my job and the kids I teach. Many of my current students’ parents are former students.
My higher education began at Valdosta State College in 1985. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the summer of 1989. After having my children and working for a few years, I returned to Valdosta State University in 2016 to earn my Master of Education. Once my children were grown and I had an empty nest, I decided to pursue my final higher education degree. I graduated from Augusta University in 2021 with my Educational Specialist in Advanced Educational Studies.
I am now 1 year away from official retirement, and I am still going strong. I enjoy attending church, reading, teaching canvas painting classes, and spending time with family and friends in my spare time. I have three grown children who are all married. I have five amazing grandchildren with whom I spend much of my after school time. They are my pride and joy!
