Meet the Teacher

Ms. Allison Faircloth

Welcome to Kindergarten in 211 at Dewar Elementary School! I am so excited about the opportunity to spend this year with you and your child.

I am a Valdosta transplant as I am originally from the small town of Douglas, Georgia. I moved to Valdosta to pursue my degree at Valdosta State University in Early Childhood Education. I have now lived in Valdosta longer than my original hometown. Therefore, I have embraced Valdosta as home.

Throughout my time as an undergraduate I had many teaching and learning opportunities at Dewar Elementary. I fell in love with the school, faculty, and staff and was awarded the opportunity to work in the Special Education department after graduating. After working with students with disabilities, I moved into my own classroom and taught 4th grade. I taught 4th grade for a year and then moved into 2nd grade. This is where I had completed the majority of my field experiences and was mentored by Mrs. Patt Crockett. When I returned to 2nd grade, I had the distinct pleasure of teaching across the hall from her and collaborating with her on many occasions to enhance the learning experience of our students. I will forever be grateful for this incredible opportunity.

After being in 2nd grade for many years, I was approached with the opportunity to move to Kindergarten. Kindergarten is now home and has been for nine years. I love spending and investing my time in loving and teaching children! For me, it is not just about teaching standards or curriculum. It is about loving them through the hard days and the good days; wiping tears away and encouraging them to continue to try their absolute best! It's about building life-long relationships.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for sharing your child with me this year as we learn and grow together and they become the best they can be.

Gratefully yours,

Ms. Allison Faircloth
