By the end of Kindergarten we will be able to:
Name and write all uppercase and lowercase letters and name all letter sounds.
Recognize and produce rhyming words
Blend and segment syllables
Blend and segment onset and rime (cat = c-at)
Sound out words and name the beginning, middle, and ending sounds
Fluently read the kindergarten High Frequency Words
Write a sentence using a capital letter and correct end mark with correct spacing between words
Sound out and spell words phonetically
Use drawing and writing to create an opinion, informative, and explanatory writing.
Ask and answer questions about a text
Retell familiar stories with multiple details
Define the role of an author and illustrator
Compare and contrast familiar stories
Explain the parts of a book and read from left to right
Collaborate with peers in small and large group discussions and activities
By the end of Kindergarten we will be able to:
Identify and write numbers 0-20
Count up to 20 objects and write the number
Name the number that is one more or one less within 20
Identify pennies, nickels, and dime by name and value
Count to 100 by ones and tens
Count backwards from 20 to 0
Use tens and ones to build numbers 11-19
Compare groups of objects within 10 using greater than, less than, or equal to
Use different strategies to add and subtract within 10
Fluently add and subtract within 5
Create and describe patterns using numbers, pictures, and shapes
Compare, describe, and order objects using measurable attributes (length, width, height, or weight)
Identify, sort, and compare 2d and 3d shapes (includes circle, triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, octagon, sphere, cube, cylinder, and cone)
Describe the location of an object using positional words (above, below, beside, in front of, behind, next to)
Use two or more shapes to create larger shapes

Explain observations of the pattern for day and night and objects found in the sky (sun, moon, stars)
Describe the physical attributes of soil, water, rocks, and air
Describe objects by size, texture, material, weight, and color
Investigate and predict whether objects will sink or float
Investiagte different types of motion (push, pull, toss, drop, fast, slow)
Explain the difference between living and nonliving things
Sort and group living and nonliving things by their attributes
Explain animals and their features

By the end of Kindergarten we will be able to:
Identify national holidays and describe important people and events
Identify American Symbols including: The USA and Georgia flag, Pledge of Allegiance, Star Spangled Banner, Statue of Liberty, Bald Eagle, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, and the White House
Correctly use words for chronology and time (before and after, long ago, in the present)
Explain a map and a globe
Name the address, city, state, and country where we live
Demonstrate an understanding of good citizenship
Describe positive character traits of good citizens
Describe community helpers and their job
Explain how money is used for goods and services
Explain wants and needs
