Activities for Week of May 4th
**Tuesday is Cinco de Mayo, celebrate the number 5 by creating a collage using multiples of 5 cut from old magazines and newspapers. Send me your picturesJ
**Sunday is Mother’s Day, create a book all about mom. Interview your mom and create a book about her life. Include her full name, birthdate, and birthplace. Create pages of her favorite things, favorite childhood memories, where she went to school and why she loves being a mom. Be sure to include a dedication page telling mom why you love her and what she means to you.
**Have you been reading? I hope so. Share one of the books you have read through a pizza book report. Use art supplies to create a large circle with 8 slices with the following information:
1. Title, author, illustrator, genre of the book
2. Characters with description
3. Setting
4. Problem
5. Solution
6. Connections- Text to text or text to self
7. Reflection – Theme or message you took away from the book.
8. Opinion – Would you recommend this book to others? Give it a rating.
**Create an acrostic poem on a science topic you learned this year.
K-2 Choice Board Activities
Write a letter to a relative telling them what you are doing at home.
Go on an alphabet scavenger hunt around your house. Find one object for each letter.
Help your parents outside with yard work. Plant a garden.
Find a recipe you like and bake a dessert or cook a meal.
Be in charge of the family’s menu for the week. Use the local grocery site to find prices for each item. Total your bill.
Design your dream room. Draw a map including a map key, compass rose and title.
Make a video of you reading a book aloud or share a review of the book.
Build a fort inside or outside your house with materials you have at home.
Think of a mystery number. Write clues for a member of your family to guess your number.
Select 5- 10 adjectives from a book you are reading. Illustrate them in a mini book.
Make a movie trailer of a book you really like.
Create different paper airplanes. Have a contest and see which design is best. Measure the distance flown.
Create a comic strip to teach a social studies or science topic from this year.
Make a book jacket for a book you have read during the time at home.
Create a Kahoot with questions reviewing subjects from this year.
