Hello class of 2024! Welcome to Mrs. Durbrow's Advisory!
Consider this your homeroom. We will check in with each other every day and I will be sharing important information with you throughout the year.
This site in currently a work in progress. Please check back frequently for new information.
Hello all! My name is Mrs. Durbrow and I will be your Advisory teacher this year at the Freshman Academy. During a normal year, you would find me teaching World History in room 905, but I am excited to share this virtual year with you.
Normally, one of our first tasks together would be to assign lockers and figure out how to work their elusive combinations. Thankfully, you are able to save that $5 this year, but I have put together an "About Me" locker for you to get to know me a little better!
This is my 3rd year teaching World History at the Freshman Academy, and I love my job. I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) with a Bachelors in History and from Cambridge College with a masters in Administration.
I've included a few pictures of my household. I live in Manchester, NH with my husband and two children; My son Daniel is 5 and starting Kindergarten this year & my other son Matthew is 3 and is just learning how to color inside the lines! We spent a lot of time at the beach this summer and riding bikes on local rail trails. I've also included a photo of my pups, Ruby (brown) and Pongo (white), both 6 year old labs.
Outside of teaching I officiate (ref) Women's NCAA College Basketball, when there is a basketball season.... I was recently "picked up" as a Division 1 official, so 2020 has already improved tremendously since September started; and I hope you will be able to say the same soon.
I am excited to get to know each one of you, and for you to get to know each other. As your advisor, I will work to guide you through this year, help you focus each day, provide you all of the information I can get my hands on, and hopefully ease any beginning of the year nerves. I am here for you and look forward to what this unique 20-21 school year will bring!
