Currently the LTA is offering through FSU: Master of Education: Pedagogy and Learning M.Ed. ( non-licensure).
One does not have to be enrolled in the M.Ed. to take a course.
The Lowell Teacher Academy is offering Spring 2027 graduate courses in collaboration with Fitchburg State University The cost for each course taken for graduate credit is $295 (3 credits and 67.5 PDPs).

If you plan on matriculating into a graduate program at Fitchburg State University, please be aware that twelve semester hours of Fitchburg State University credit taken within a year prior to the student’s admission may be applied to the degree program with the approval of the program chairperson. Anything over 12 credits prior to matriculation will NOT be accepted towards the degree.
Admission requirements
Please begin by submitting an application for admission and submitting the required documents (list below). That process starts online here. Be sure to choose Master of Education - Pedagogy and Learning, with Lowell as the extended campus partner.
You need to apply for the degree before you complete 12 FSU credits. Students can transfer in up to six graduate credits from another regionally accredited college or university (taken within the past six years and if you received a grade of 3.0 or higher in the course) with the approval of the graduate program chair. You have 6 years to complete the degree.
Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Admission requirements are as follows:
An official transcript of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
Three letters of recommendation
Professional resume
Official transcripts of graduate-level coursework from a regionally accredited institution (if applicable)
Graduate application and fee
An essay, no more than one page in length, in response to one of the following questions:
Tell us about a positive situation in which you helped a person and made a significant difference in that person’s life.
What are the most important factors in establishing a long-term working relationship with students, friends, etc.?
Tell us about a significant event that involved you in a teaching or helping mode.
Describe the situation as it occurred at the time.
What did you do in that particular situation?
How did you feel about the situation at the time you were experiencing it?
How do you feel about the situation now?
What would you change, if anything?
This pathway is for educators who enrolled in the Master's in Pedagogy and Learning before the fall of 2026.
All Lowell Public School Department staff are entitled to $1,000.00 tuition reimbursement allowance per school year , (ie:July 1,2026-June 30 2027)
The cost for each course taken for graduate credit is $295 (3 credits and 67.5 PDPs).
At the end of the course, after you have received your grade, please complete and email your documentation for reimbursement to Xiomara Rivera at Human Resources, xrivera@lowell.k12.ma.us- including all scanned supporting documents.
***Please note: Reimbursement checks may take 10–15 weeks to process and will be mailed to the home address currently on file with Lowell Public Schools.
