Our workshops are, for the most part, outdoors! Learn what to bring to the workshops here.
These workshops are fun days filled with people who share your same awe and love for the natural world. Be prepared to meet some amazing people in the course of these workshops, both fellow students and educators, and be prepared to learn more than you could imagine about the wonderful natural world all around you in Southeast Louisiana.
Arriving early to each scheduled workshop is encouraged. This time before class is a great moment to communicate with your fellow class members, class leaders, and often educators, one on one.
We will travel to our workshops in carpools where possible. Carpools can be arranged through the information on this doc.
When the workshop begins, the coordinator of that workshop will explain the activities of the workshop to the group. There are often 2-3 or more activities planned for each workshop. Your class will then be divided into groups, and each group will rotate through each of the activities.
Sometimes the activities will involve the whole class, eg, when we are all in the planetarium at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center.
We will generally break for an hour in the middle of our workshop, to give us time to eat and drink what we have brought.
After we have all rotated through each of the activities, there will be a brief summary and question and answer period before we disperse.
