Welcome to Discrete Math with Ms. Rose. Listed below you will see all the topics we will attempt to cover over the year. There are a variety of topics, all of which I LOVE! Some will be from your textbooks, and some will be created by me from a variety of different sources. There are many advantages to this course. First of all, for almost EVERY chapter, you will see a direct relation to use of the skills outside of the classroom. Second, while SOME chapters relate to each other, for the most part, if you don't like something, don't worry, two weeks later we will be moving on to something else! Because of all the switches in big ideas, there is never a cumulative final exam. Rather, I have rearranged material from years past so that we will have projects at the end of each semester acting as our "final".
As I mentioned, there are so many different topic areas. Combine that with the fact that we are now meeting every day, and that means if you have questions, you need to ask RIGHT AWAY! Our units range in length from 5-10 days, so almost all are under two weeks. Please make the best use of class time, and don't be afraid to ask if you are confused. For the most part, I expect that very few of you have ever seen these topics. They are not necessarily mathematically difficult, but their newness can make them difficult to grasp.
