Salons in the 21st century can be known as podcasts, talkshows, and the internet. They publish their ideas to the world. These modern salons share their thoughts and insights through technology. One example of a 21st century salon is the Ellen show. In the Ellen Show, Ellen DeGeneres invites people on her show to chat with them in front of an audience, which is then filmed and put onto television. Another example that shows this same idea is the Oprah Winfrey show.
18th century salons spread ideas to educate people all over Europe. Through meeting and discussing important ideas and events, they began to share with each other their beliefs. Enlightenment ideas also eventually spread through newspapers, pamphlets, and even political songs. These salon gatherings took place heavily in the most expensive mansions with educated women. Salons provided a place for women and men to congregate for intellectual discourse.
