. . . to seventh grade! Get ready for a challenging but awesome year. I am looking forward to getting to know you and to help you grow as a reader, writer, editor, and speaker as well as to prepare you for success both in and out of the classroom.

This ongoing curriculum calendar consists of DAILY SLIDES that have the information that was presented and reviewed in class, including the DAILY HOMEWORK. It is a good idea for students to check the WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? link if they are absent from school.

CORE NOVELS

You are NOT required to buy ANY books this year; I will provide the students with all copies of class books. However, some people CHOOSE to purchase their own copy to ANNOTATE in them. If you wish to buy ahead, here is what we plan to read:

8 ½ X 11 5 subject college ruled spiral (please adhere to this size spiral only as we will be keeping handouts, worksheets, and other student tools in it)

Section for Core in 3-ring binder

Pencils/Pens (blue or black ink)

Colored pencils

Glue sticks (at least 3)

Dry erase markers (at least 2 black)

Highlighters (any color)

Pencil sharpener

Mini stapler with staples

Earbuds or headphones (plug must fit Chromebook)

Wireless mouse (optional)

Chromebook or Laptop (optional BYOD)

AERIES

Students should get into the habit of checking Aeries every week. This will let them know their progress in all classes. I will do my best to post assignments as they are assigned so that students and parents can view upcoming due dates. Most assignments are graded and entered into Aeries within one week of being due in my class.

HOMEWORK

Students can expect approximately 70 minutes of CORE homework weekly excluding daily reading. I list assignments and due dates on a daily basis both on the whiteboard and on the WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? slide and encourage the students to write them down in their Minder Binders. Parents, please check the Minder Binder weekly. Since late assignments receive a lowered grade, I recommend students use their Minder Binders so they know precisely what is required, when it is due, and plan their time accordingly.

ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP WORK

Students are responsible for making up both classwork and homework for the days they are absent. Absent work will be accepted for verified absences only. Students have one day per day missed to make up missing work.
