Hello my name is Shawna Crews and I grew up in Southeast Georgia. I have been teaching for 18 years. I have been teaching in Texas for 12 years. I taught in Corpus Christi for six years prior to coming to Lorena ISD.

I received my Bachelors in Middle Grades Education from Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Georgia. This campus is now part of Georgia Southern University. I also have a Masters in Educational Administration from Texas A & M Corpus Christi. 

I love being a part of the Lorena Community! This is my seventh year at Lorena Middle School.

I taught 8th grade science from 2019-2022 and I was an Instruction Specialist from 2022-2024. The part of being a specialist that I enjoyed the most was helping students gain confidence in math. Because of this love, when the position of a 7th grade math teacher became available, I asked campus leadership if I could fill the position. I finished  the 2024-2025 school year as a 7th grade math teacher.I am excited to be teaching 7th grade math again this year as well as 7th grade science

My name is Shannon Carpenter, and I am proud to be a Lorena Leopard!

I grew up in Waco, Texas and attended both public and private schools.  I received a Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Texas.  After returning to school for a teaching certificate, I also finished a Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.  This will be my fifteenth year in education.

I have a true passion for working with our middle school learners.  I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures growth in a positive environment.

I have been married to my husband John for thirteen  years and we have two wonderful sons, Peyton and Paxton.  

I look forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s academic journey.
