COURSE PLATFORM
All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. Use the “Classwork” viewing mode. You will see the curriculum has been arranged by date. Each class will start out with an ENGAGE bell ringer … a prompt and material that provokes classroom discussion. Next, there will be an EXPERIENCE(s) which describes activities in which learning takes place. Finally, there will be an EMPOWER - your graded assignment that applies the learning. There is not a textbook issued for my class. You will need your Chromebook daily. Charging stations have been set up for your convenience at your desks.
MY EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
Arrive on time. I teach bell-to-bell.
Phones in the caddy. There is a number on your desk that corresponds to a number in the wall caddy. Your phone goes in that slot. No phone in caddy = tardy.
Respect each other and yourselves.
There is not another YOU on the planet and there never will be. Write and read from your perspective, while learning from others’.
YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF ME
Generation Z has more access to information than ever before. You don’t need a teacher to regurgitate facts. My job is to interpret the information, show its relevance, challenge you and inspire you.
I will come to class prepared every day. I will never ask you to do anything that I haven't already done or am unwilling to do myself.
Grades of assignments will be posted within a week of being submitted. If you ever need clarification on a grade, the time to discuss it is before school, my conference period or during flex period.
Most importantly, I will love you. I truly care about each and every student!
Grading policy
40% Daily Grades
60% Major Grades
The Lorena ISD late work policy is: assignments may be accepted for a 25 point penalty within an extra block day (example: If assignment was due on Monday "A" day, it may turned in for a late grade by Wednesday "A" day). After the one extra block day has passed, the student may no longer turn in the late assignment and cannot receive credit for it. Plagiarism results in a grade of 0.
In AP classes, no late work is accepted.
