1. When homework is given, it must be completed before entering class. Late classwork/homework earns 1/2 credit, if it is turned in. The cutoff for late work is the end of the unit of study.
2. Writing must be neat and legible, or it will not be accepted.
3. Work will always be checked.
4. Homework and classwork are based on a check mark system on the Genesis Grade Portal. The checks indicate completion:
Check plus plus 100%
Check plus 90%
Check 75%
Check minus 60%
Check minus minus 50%
MI = Missing, INC = Incomplete, AB = Absent
Typically, homework/classwork is checked based on effort and completion.
However, there are times when homework/classwork assignments are graded for comprehension. Early on in the year, students are informed that any homework/classwork assignment may be graded for more than simply compleing and following directions. Once again, late classwork/homework earns 1/2 credit, if it is turned in. The cutoff for late work is the end of the unit of study.
-> Please follow district policy for making up missing work due to absences.
5. Essay grades are numeric, and rubrics are given, and explained, to students when the assignment has been given. Late essays get -5 deducted each day late.
6. Tests and Quizzes receive numeric scores as well. Late Tests/Quizzes get -5 deducted each day late.
