In addition to sharing your overall thoughts and experiences, the post should answer the following questions:
This course expanded my knowledge of what it means to be a connected educator. Before this course I thought I knew some ways to be "connected" through social media and other outlets but this course really went into detail about what that means. Before this I would use Instagram and Pinterest to save ideas from other teachers.
My two social networks that I currently use and will continue to use are Instagram and Facebook and Pinterest. I wasn't sure how I felt about using Twitter, as I only have an account because of another class I took in the past! I do feel that too much social media can be mind numbing and overwhelming. Is it necessary to join ALL of these outlets? However, using Twitter in this class did show me the benefits of it as an educator and not just for fun or politics. There were pieces of twitter I enjoyed but I found using the twitter chat challenging. I tried a couple times to find a chat and there didn't seem to be many other people chatting, so I did not feel the full benefit but it seems like a great idea.
I really liked the modules on the virtual presentation and online conferences. I found that there were so many available that were free and also specific to topics I would enjoy. It is also so great that you can view them on your own time and in your own home. This is something I will definitely be using going forward. I also found the assignment on creating this google sites web blog helpful. It is something that was easy to do once I got started and I can see myself using it after this course as way to communicate with parents. I don't think I will use it so much as a blog, but as a class website.
This course has helped me develop as a teacher and lifelong learner because its taught be multiple ways to learn from other educators virtually. By doing this, it ensures that I stay up to speed on new techniques and strategies. It also allows me to ask questions and seek out understanding on new ideas.
