Found a lot of odd bugs today. Some of which made me physically uncomfortable to look at, and many of which escaped their containers. Rock flies are not fun critters. I moved to site 2 today which will be pictured below!
Temperature (11:30): 68.5 F
Conductivity: 234 µs/cm
Day 1 E. Coli observations: No colonies - Worried I did it wrong.
PH: 6.3
Site 2 notes; This area was much more fast-moving than site one. I found only one organism, which was a small fish, I found the contrast between the fast-moving, upstream area and the slow moving down stream area to be interesting, and it also provided some insight on how the macro inverts may travel, and how strong their swimming or walking may be. For example the tiny fish found all throughout the stream would logically be strong swimmers that can hide in rocks and avoid currents, whereas something like a larva - blackflies for example - need to have slower moving water to swim in, as they have no fins.
Macro inverts count/list:
12 Stone flies
1 netspinner
5 beetles
1 midge
2 most true flies
3 damsel/dragonflies
2 mayflies
1 Hellgrammite
