What do I need to do when it's time to bury somebody? 

Call us as soon as possible using the contact information on the Home page. 

We are required to record and report all burials with no exceptions. We also need to mark the correct plot before the grave can be dug. Once, we have completed these tasks, you can proceed with the burial.

The Longbranch Cemetery Association does not dig graves, sell or transport coffins, or provide any other burial services. You may hire a burial professionals to provide those types of services.

Can I spread or bury cremation ashes myself? Yes, you may bury or spread cremation ashes, but first you must contact us so we can record the burial and mark out the plot. We require that cremains or urns be buried 10 inches below the surface.

Can I sell the plots that I own? You cannot sell a plot. For a $50 fee, you may give your plot to another person. When we receive payment and a completed form detailing the transfer, we will update our records to indicate the change in ownership. Or you may donate the plot back to the LCA, in which case there will be no fee to update the records. 

Can you help me find out whether my family owns burial plots in the Longbranch Cemetery? Yes, we can assist you. Please email or write us using the contact information on the Home page. 

Who will maintain my gravesite?  The LCA pays to have the cemetery mowed three times a year. It is up to the family and friends to weed and clean up individual gravesites.

Every year, before Memorial Day, we have a community work party at the Cemetery.  Families gather to clean up the grave sites of their loved ones, and afterward we have lunch and our Annual Members Meeting.  We try to reach everyone who owns burial plots, to inform them of this gathering.  If your contact information changes, please notify us so that we can keep you informed.

The Longbranch Cemetery Association is entirely run by volunteers and we welcome new volunteers who want to work with us. 

The Longbranch Cemetery Association operates solely on donations and revenue from the sale of plots. We depend on and welcome donations, large and small!  As a 501-C3, we can provide receipts so that your donations are tax deductible. Please contact us to volunteer, and send your donations to the address on the Home page.
