Beginning in summer 2026, the Longbranch Cemetery will be offering green burial plots.

The green burial plots prohibit use of a vault, impermeable caskets,  and embalming chemicals used to preserve the body.

These kinds of burials require a larger plot, 6' x 12', and the cost is $650.

Green burials require that soil be mounded up over the burial plot, which will require more care in the way we mow and control overgrowth of invasive plants.  For this reason, green burial plots will not be interspersed with conventional plots. To accommodate the community's desire for green burial, we have set aside a two acre section of the cemetery for green burial plots.

Personalized grave markers and easy to maintain plantings are welcome. Use of natural rock is encouraged.

Invasive species of plants are not allowed, nor are herbicides and pesticides allowed for maintenance.
