This course is designed to allow students to apply an artistic approach to floral design. This introductory course is A-G approved and students receive a fine arts credit. Throughout the course, students will explore the elements and principles of design, two or three dimensional designs, history of floral art, arrangements, styles and techniques, as well as season, holiday and occasional designs. Students will achieve this through creating, designing, identifying, explaining and evaluating all topics of study. Students will gain an understanding of the floral industry and practice industry techniques through real design construction. Along with their coursework, students will be graded on participation in intracurricular FFA activities as well as the development and maintenance of an ongoing Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) program.
