The IB approaches to learning are a set of strategies and skills. They pay particular attention to how students learn as opposed to merely the content of the learning. These approaches are intrinsically linked with the IB learner profile attributes.

I really love these words, written by Alec Peterson, which really sum up and clarify the IB Approach to Learning. He was an Edinburgh school teacher (later Heidie!) who was the very first Director General of IB from 1988-1977. He was a true pioneer of International Education who shaped the philosophy of the IB based on his humanist and liberal beliefs, and left a lasting educational legacy. He's a bit of a hero of mine - I really like the fact that a Scotsman kicked the whole thing off!
