Honor Bands

WSMA State Honor Band

The WSMA State Honors Music Project is nationally recognized as one of the finest opportunities for young people. Regardless of your future college major, membership in the High School State Honors Music Project helps set you apart from other college applicants. Students selected for the WSMA State Honors Music Project participate in an intensive four day summer camp in June and perform at the Overture Center in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference. Membership provides you with one of the best musical and personal experiences of your life.   Registration opens in November, auditions are typically in March.

Wisconsin Concert Band Association All-State Band

The WCBA All-State Band takes place in mid to late January on the UW-Whitewater campus.  Selection for the prestigious ensemble is by band teacher recommendation.  Students  have the opportunity to work with nationally and internationally renowned conductors and may have the opportunity to give a world premier performance of music commissioned by the WCBA and its member schools.  Recommendations are submitted in early October.


UWEC Honor Band

The UWEC Honor Band allows students an opportunity to visit the Eau Claire campus and collaborate with other talented high school musicians from throughout the state. Students will have the opportunity to work with applied staff on campus and work with conductors Dr. John Stewart and Dr. Philip Ostrander. The honor band usually takes place in early November. Applications for participation are due in late September.
