Beginning Robotics

This class will continue building the skills you have with Robotics. Work with the Lego EV3 robotics or the Lego Mindstorm Robots. Build, compete or challenge with friends and continue learning with Robotics. Session 2 only
Board Games and More
In this class, you will work with Teachers on Strategic Board games like; Azul, Pandemic, Sushi Go Party, Jaipur, Cribbage, and much more. Work together with classmates on building your tabletop board game skills. Session 1 Only
Book Club

Cheerleading

Cheerleading teaches young athletes all the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the home team. Summer School Cheer will ensure that each student will learn cheers, proper hand and body movements, as well as jumping techniques. We focus on the fun while each cheerleader learns important life skills such as team building and leadership. Session 1 Only

Cooking can be fun! Students will have fun helping and making their own simple treats while learning nutrient facts and tips! These simple treats may not be 100% healthy, but it's all about learning how to use the kitchen throughout this class!

Exploring Japan

One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Attack on Titan...what do they all have in common? They are all Japanese Anime! This class will give you a head start in learning and being able to understand Japanese. This Introduction to Japanese course will focus on being able to introduce yourself, greetings, and the basic handwriting of Hiragana.

Whether you're new to town or your family has been in Lodi for generations, this course will offer an interesting first-hand perspective on the history of our town! We will visit sites, interview community members, and investigate historical resources and artifacts to become experts of our peaceful valley.

Fishing

Learn basic skills of fishing such as casting, knot time, fish identification, and fishing techniques. Then test your skills and luck out on the water. This class will run from 8:00 am till 10:55 am and included daily field trips to local fishing spots.
For the Love of Reading

Let's keep your young reader motivated this summer! We'll have several times throughout the summer to come to school and pick out books for your child to read, or for you to read to your child. Special incentives and celebrations will be included in the fun! We want to help your child maintain and build on their reading skills and help them continue to build a love of reading!
Golf

Experience golfing through summer school! Mondays and Wednesdays students will meet at the golf course in Lodi and golf from 7:00 am to 9:50 am. Students will need to find their own transportation to the course but can be bussed back to the High School in time for their 3rd -hour class. In addition, students will continue other skills on Tuesday and Thursday at the High School from 8:30-10:00. Golf clubs are required and are not provided. A trip to mini-golf to practice putting may be offered for an additional cost. This information will be handed out to the students once details have been determined.
Jumpstart to K (Kindergarten)

This course will be designed to give any of our current 4K kiddos (those going into Kindergarten in the fall) an opportunity to get a look into kindergarten. We will focus on social skills, literacy, math, fine motor and how to be a learner.

We will play, read stories, do projects, play games, and more! If you are feeling a little nervous about starting school or just want to meet some other 4k friends and have some summer fun, this class is for you!
Reading Fun

This course will be about reading various stories and then having engaging activities that involve concepts from the story. Some activities will include making art projects that will reinforce skills from the story, games, or story comprehension activities. This will also involve time for children to read books of their choice and level to reinforce reading for 15- 20 minutes a day. This class will be about having a fun reading experience.

From beginners to advanced artists, we will work with all skill levels. Come and experience art at a whole new level. In this class. We will use different materials to learn to sculpt different objects as well as paint a subject matter of objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, etc) or man-made (glasses, books, vases, coins, etc). You will learn to paint and create your own works of art. An Art portfolio will be created to keep your works of art together. Join in the fun and maybe even become the next Van Gogh!

Swim Lessons for everyone: brush up on your swim skills, improve on your strokes, or learn how to swim! All classes are American Red Cross certified. The class will be tested based on skills and will be divided into groups for lessons. Students will learn/work on stroke development, treading water, playing some fun water games.

Theater

Students will learn the basics of a musical theater performance, acting, and presentation skills. Vocal technique, beginning acting skills, and basic choreography will be developed as students learn and participate in imaginative play, theatre games, and character-building activities. Then "put it all together" in this fun-filled class.

Summer School Volunteer
Lodi Summer School is looking for dedicated, involved kids to help with our program. If you are interested in working with younger students or helping out in the office, look no further. Students who sign up will work in classrooms of younger students on class activities or have the option to help out office staff with everyday tasks at summer school.
