Teaching and Research Assistant, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, McGill University, Canada
[ September 2022 – Present ]
Responsibilities:
Have assisted two courses titled – Natural Disasters and Environmental Geology (human-Earth System).
Working on Surface Earth System Analysis and Modeling Environment (SESAME) project to generate complex human-Earth system dataset using jurisdictional data, remote sensing, and machine learning algorithms.
I am using python programming language for generating algorithms to convert global jurisdictional country-wise tabular data into gridded netCDF dataset.
GIS Specialist, GIS Centre, Operational Centre Amsterdam (OCA) at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders – Bangladesh
[ July 2020 – August 2021 ]
Responsibilities:
Carried out a water and sanitation (WatSan) project based on Rohingya Refugee Community in Bangladesh, by assisting a humanitarian medical response using GIS support and remote sensing support.
Used ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Collector, Survey123, Kobo Toolbox, OsmAnd to collect, analyze, map and visualize dynamically of water, sanitation, hygiene, epidemiology, health, protection, social and educational related data.
Leader of a GIS Data Collection Team of more than 20 refugees and trained them for collecting crucial data from the refugee camps.
Analyzed camp's WASH infrastructures to find out stressed zones, prioritize the responsible infrastructures for that scarcity and shared the data to responsible Operation & Maintenance (O&A) team.
Did water network planning, managed the O&A for rapid service planning and action in humanitarian context.
Made and maintained Real-time Operational Dashboards for several departments based on several web-based monitoring techniques.
Technically coordinated with local government, other national and international NGOs, such as UNICEF, IOM, UNHCR, SI, etc.
Weekly reported the activities to superiors in Headquarters (HQ) mostly from Geneva and Amsterdam.
Attended meetings and collaborated my data with GeoMSF Platform.
Research Consultant, Climate Change and Disaster Management Division at Center for Environmental and Geographic Information and Services (CEGIS)
- a public trust under Ministry of Water Resources, Bangladesh
[ May 2019 – July 2020 ]
Responsibilities:
Managed all GIS and RS related divisional activities by engaging in several national and international climate change (CC) and water management related projects.
The CC Forecasting & Participatory Scenario Development by analyzing and forecasting flash floods using a variety of climatic variables, water logging in a city due to heavy rainfall, sea level rise in coastal region due to climate change, CC risk assessment in roads and low-lying flood potential region, preparation of storm water management plan for Thimphu, Bhutan among others were the most sophisticated and exclusive projects I worked in this short-time period.
I worked on disaster risk reduction (DRR) by creating watershed using ArcSWAT and ArcHydro, modeled drainage adequacy and permissibility using SWMM, multi-criteria analysis (MCA) for critical drainage, water quality analysis, catchment delineation and discharge calculation, land use classification, field data verification, multi-hazard risk assessment, data analysis, urban growth prediction using cellular automata (CA) based artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm, inundation data analysis, coastal crop damage assessment due to flood, prioritized critical road identification and report writing.
Also collected primary data from study site, worked with collaborators such as meeting with third party, Bangladesh Army, government agency peoples, clients from Bhutan among other activities.
