Hey y’all! Welcome to World History. I'm super excited for our year and looking forward to getting to know you. First, let me share a bit about myself. I grew up in San Luis Obispo and attended SLO High (don’t hate me). I went to The Ohio State University for undergrad and majored in History and Political Science with a minor in Geography. I loved going to school there and you will quickly learn about my obsession for all things Ohio State, especially football. After graduating I attended the University of Pennsylvania to earn a Master’s Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education and completed student teaching in Philadelphia. I began my teaching career at Gaston Day School in Gastonia, North Carolina (just outside of Charlotte) and taught 7th and 8th grade there for four years. While teaching at GDS, I decided to pursue a second Master’s Degree, this time in American History. I was awarded the James Madison Memorial Foundation Fellowship to earn this degree through the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and spent a summer studying the US Constitution at Georgetown. After I completed that degree I moved to San Francisco and taught 7th grade World History for two years.
Now I am lucky enough to be back on the central coast and very excited to teach at AGHS (but don’t tell my family, they are all still SLOHS fans--my dad taught there and my sister currently teaches and coaches there)! When I’m not teaching or learning about history, I enjoy being outdoors (paddle boarding, hiking) and watching sports. I also love traveling and try to go abroad each summer (bonus points if you can identify the country/cities I visited last summer in the pics below). I am looking forward to learning and teaching with you this year!
We're going to have a great year!
