8th Grade US History!

WENDORFF BTSN Preso (ss8)

Hello! In summary, this class is all about inviting your student to learn from a varied collection of perspectives through historical "primary source" exploration so they can cultivate their own insights and opinions about America and its beautifully intricate history and present! Feel free to check out the sources they'll be analyzing in the packet I sent home with your family! My biggest goal is that they become independent, critical thinkers who have a rich appreciation for the complexity of our beloved country and the agency to participate in our democracy as engaged & informed citizens. I am proud to be an American and honored to teach US History! I am excited to explore the history of America and its impact on the present with your student this year! Thanks.

7th Grade World Cultures

Hi there! In summary, this class is all about gaining a holistic appreciation & understanding for cultures that are different than our own. We will explore the histories and cultures of Latin America, Asia, The Middle East, Europe, and more! Specifically, we will focus on Medieval Times as well as what these cultures look like today both around the world and in America. I want to encourage our students to recognize that each individual is a beautiful blend of cultures and influences from all over the world! For example, we are all influenced by American culture but we may not know that the American Constitution was inspired by a combination of French, British, and Iroquois philosophy! It's really beautiful how globalized and connected our planet is! I am excited to explore this with your student this year!

Thank you so much!

Teaching your student is genuinely the biggest honor of my life! I recognize that in this unique year, I am a guest in your home. I don't take that for granted. I will never force your student to turn their camera on nor share anything they don't want to share. Please let me know or have them let me know how I can accommodate them and support them to be their best this year. I do not want our class to be an additional source of stress for a student or for your family.

I am immensely grateful for your support and I hope that we can stay connected! Please reach out with any exciting news in your family, questions about what your student is learning (I am happy to send you anything & everything!), knowledge about history you'd like to share, or feedback about the way I am tackling distance learning... or just to say hi! I miss connecting with students and families so much! Thanks for having such an amazing attitude and for raising kids that make distance teaching as joyful as possible!

Gratefully,

Mrs. Nadine Wendorff
