Room 45 – Kindergarten – Mrs. Daries
*Please try to complete all projects by September 19th
Creating a "Sharing Can":
Please find a can with a cover for your child's "Sharing Can". A coffee can, iced tea mix can, food storage container, or any similar type of can will work great. Clean it out and let it dry. You may work with your child to decorate it any way they wish. Please make sure your child's name is clearly labeled on it. Some suggestions for decorating are covering it with some kind of paper, using stickers, pictures, using foam pieces, etc... The can will be used weekly throughout the year for various "Show and Tell" type activities that correspond with the beginning or other sounds we are working on that week. Whatever your child brings in, it must fit in the can. Weekly directions will follow on my website on the "Important Dates, Announcements & Home Assignments" page. The “Sharing Can” can stay at home until the first assignment is given.
Journal At Home Project:
Please create a mini poster (8½ by 11) on both sides. It should consist of ideas for your child to write about in their journal. Simply cut out pictures and/or words of things they like, interests they have, places they have visited, sports they play, and friends and family they have. Glue the pictures on both sides of the paper and print their name on it. Be sure that all sides of the pictures are glued down completely because I will be inserting your child's mini poster into the laminating machine.
T-Shirt Project:
Have your child decorate the given t-shirt paper cut-out, from your Orientation to his/her liking. You can use family pictures, drawings, stickers, trim, etc. You can be as creative as you like! In the past, many children have chosen photos of family members, pets, and favorite places to include on the t-shirt. This t-shirt will hang in your child’s cubby at school for the entire year, so please only decorate ONE side of the shirt. Please send in this project as soon as possible so we can share it and display it in the cubbies.
Thanks for your cooperation!
