8th Grade Voices
Our 8th grade rising voices were inspired to create a poem similar to Langston Hugh's
"I Dream a World" poem that they studied in class.
Christian Rietzen
I dream a world where worries fail to wade
themselves through a river with great abilities
to overcome hardships. I dream a world
where immoral people fly away like caterpillars
turning into butterflies. Where every discussion I have
with a person denotes deference and union.
I dream a world where worries fail to wade
themselves through a river with great abilities
to overcome hardships.
Where people regardless of race, sex, or religion
can unite together as one. Where men, women, and
everyone in between, will no longer feel pain.
Perhaps, that is far too much to ask. Nevertheless, it is
but our task. The world must get better and it
must do so with our help. For, I dream of a
world where worries fail to wade themselves
through a river with great abilities to overcome hardships.
Isabella Wolbransky
Life is like a wall,
Keeping firm ground.
Once that wall crumbles,
All is left to ruble.
A wall can be knocked down,
Or be left to crumble,
But strengthening that wall,
Can keep it from trouble.
Life is that wall,
It can be knocked over,
Or be left to itself,
But every good thing,
Building the wall,
Can make a person
Their better self.
Cole Zalewski
I have a dream that one day everyone will be kind to each other.
No matter the skin color
Red, Green, Blue, White, Black every color.
I have a dream everyone uses their lifetime to the fullest.
I have a dream that everyone will be as confident as Kobe Bryant,
or like Lebron because people are hurting themselves
because they have no confidence in anything they do.
I have a dream that school security will be better
because last year there were a total of 27 school shootings
and 300 students/teachers were killed in them.
I have a dream for peace.
That my is my dream.
Graham Alden
In a world I dream of, kindness reigns supreme,
where peace is never a dream.
No hate, no wars, just harmony and light,
where every soul is free to sour and take flight.
The change I hope for is a simple truth,
where all can live with dignity and proof,
that all are equal,
with no more divide,
and unity and justice is what we all abide.
A symphony of hope, a gentle serene,
This world I dream of, with change in its heart,
is where I’'ll find my home and never depart.
One Together
Like the Sun
Rising from the East
We rose to power to let everyone see
It wasn’t just them who could be seen
It was a nightmare
Dressed up in green
Showing nothing but greed
Like a bundle of flowers
So ready to flee
We raised our hands
So she shall see
We were one together

I dream of a world with more good than bad.
Where peace flowers and evil hides.
A world where war is rare.
Where the thunder clouds leave,
and the sun appears.
Where the April rain supports new flowers.
Where the birds sing like a caroling choir.
I dream of a world where there is no hate.
Where friendship outnumbers rivalry.
Where everyone understands each other.
Where everyone can focus on their goals
without interruption.
Last but not least, I dream of a world where people read my poetry.
So please, make all my dreams come true.
Especially the last one.

These men whose God is gold alone
- I curse them for their hearts of stone -
Desire to take this wretched land,
Won by much Albanian blood, and
Make a jigsaw of its borders.
Why? Because Europe so orders...
Europe, you bloodsucker of the ages
Thus to stain your glorious pages;
This your culture: Albania starves
While faithless perjured Brussels carves
Her up to feed the whelps of Slavs.
Thus you pay them, who sacrificed
Themselves to save the lands of Christ.
Skanderbeg fought to save your world,
While you sat mute with banners furled.
I dream of a world that will understand Albanian’s values.
I dream of a world that will show the truth.
I dream of a world that let alone will tell the truth
And never hide the values of Albania.
As a pearl, Albania is…
The destruction of it as Iraq as followed
And joy, like a pearl as been stolen.

I dream a world of peace
A world of hope, love
A world where hope is like fame,
and love is like gifts,
thoughtfully given and received
A world where hatred is blind
And the grief of pain blows away
Where the stereotypes of gender and race, will soon die away
Because still to this day,
we are all pushed away
This is my faith,
and I'm ready for this day
A world of hope, peace, love:
I dream a world of peace
A world of hope, love
A world where hope is like fame,
and love is like gifts,
thoughtfully given and received
A world where hatred is blind
And the pain of grief blows away
Where stereotypes of gender and race,
soon die away
Because still to this day,
we are all pushed away
This is my faith,
and I'm ready for this day

Is this real, am I dreaming
Are people being used and abused because of their skin tone
Are they being treated like caged animals because they are simply different from others
Is this how God wanted us to live,
to survive?
I dream one day that people will have peace, prosperity, patience, and politeness.
But instead people are wondering
day by day if they would die.
Weather it is sitting on the wrong side of the bus or drinking out of the wrong water fountain
Justice is blind and, at times, deaf
These is are constant questions people have ask themselves
Questions they have to think about
And is all this happening,
why?
Because they are different?

Let us rise up,
And bring hope to a world in need.
Let us inspire each other,
And fulfill our greatest deeds.
We take a step
And make a stand,
Against the prejudice
Of our vast land.
As we possess the strength within,
We shall drive away the wicked.
See the light that shines,
Like our creative minds,
If we combined our power,
For we will change by the hour.
So let us rise up and join hands,
To satisfy our demands.
For we ought to leave a legacy,
As we all have a dream.

If I had to choose what my world would be about
I would ponder for days without a doubt
Although it might seem like this question is simple
It took me days to grasp the response
Finally the response appeared
The crowd finally cheered like I won
If I had to choose what my world would be about
I would choose that everyone was happy in a shout
I wouldn't want anyone to be left alone
And all the kings and queens to be dethroned
Finally if i had to choose what my world would be about i would choose that everyone should choose on their own

A world of dreams,a land so bright,
Where flowers smile and the sun shines light.
Tall trees sway, and the rivers flow,
Peaceful and calm, a world aglow.
But change is what the long for too,
A world where love shines, bright like the morning dew
Where laughter is heard(hahaha), and every heart is warm,
And hope prevails, like a summer storm.
With every smile, they chase their goal,
To make this dream, their hearts’ true role.
For the world they seek, is not just a thought,
It's a future that can't be bought.
So let us dream.and let us strive,
To bring this world to life.
For change begins, with every step we take, and every smile, is a change we make.
Matthew Wuller
I wish an end to all the war
For finally the rain will stop to pour
A new day will begin
And peace and prosperity will spread around
For new adventures we are bound
I wish a world where the birds will sing
Then the bells will finally ring
For the job is done
And victory is won
We can lay down our weapons to rest
So I wish for you the best
That is what I wish
For war to end and freedom spread
For new journeys are ahead

I dream of a world
Where everyone belongs
And everyone knows
That they belong
I dream of a world
Where even on a rainy day
There's hope
I dream of a world
As if life is a roller coaster
That screaming and crying
Is all for the good
I dream of a world
Were trees dance in the wind
The sun smiles down at us
And all the gray clouds, disappear
I dream of a world
Thats ok for all
Where no doesnt exist
Where any question
Opens a door
To a whole new world
Of answers today
In the end the world
Will be our dream
Our dream will be real
And it won't be a dream

I dream a world where,
My tears shall fly in the wind,
With sadness stabbing them with a pin,
A dark cloud is above my head,
Tears of rainfall it shall shed,
You shall never know how my sorrow cries,
For if you had my eyes,
All you would feel is water,
Trickling down these hot cheeks of sotter,
My cries shall drowned for eternity,
And so will my screams,
For this dark cloud shall poor and poor,
Tears of rainfall shall evermore,
This is my world.
Julia Cavallo
I watch my world drown in sorrow,
While I wish for a better tomorrow
I watch society break
With every mistake,
And every wrongful step we take
I watch society fight,
Taking darkness in,
Losing track of our light
And I watch our spirit fracture
Piece by piece
As violent as a surging storm
A battle that never seems to cease
And though I watch,
I still wish,
I wish to regain a sense of community.
Feel empowered,
And allow everyone an opportunity.
When I wish, my dreams feel existent.
But when reality returns, and we escape from what's fictitious
What horror will we all be forced to witness?
