Dear Orchestra and Band Directors,

I am pleased to share the 2026 Multi-District  High School Honor Orchestra acceptance list for the strings section! Congratulations to the students selected, and thank you for supporting their preparation and participation.  Please note that this list includes the strings section only.  Winds and percussion will be listed Saturday, October 17. 

This year’s event will take place November 19–21, 2026, at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. We look forward to bringing these talented musicians together for a rewarding musical experience.

1.  Please Confirm Each Student’s Participation (Very Important-Time Sensitive)

Please review the attached acceptance list, share the results with your students and their families, and confirm whether each selected student will participate.

After speaking with the student and their parent or guardian, please have each student complete the Student Commitment Form below. Submit one response per accepted student, including students who will decline their invitation.

Please indicate whether the student:

• Accepts the invitation and commits to participating in the full event; or

• Declines the invitation.

If a student cannot participate, please submit that response as soon as possible so that we can offer the seat to another deserving student.

2. Participation Fee and Deadline

The participation fee is $50 per student. Commitment responses and participation fees are due by Friday, October 30, 2026.  

Payment instructions - Students will submit payment to their Orchestra/Band Director.  The Orchestra/Band Director will send one school check, or money order covering all of their students,  All checks and money orders must be made payable to LMEA.  Submitting the commitment form confirms the student’s participation but does not replace payment of the fee.

3. Music and Welcome Materials

I will send music, welcome letters, and general event information, including hotel lodging information to help students and families prepare.

By accepting, students are committing to attend all required rehearsals and the concert, prepare their assigned music, and meet the participation requirements. Please discuss any known scheduling conflicts with me before confirming a student’s commitment.

Thank you again for helping us build a strong and well-prepared orchestra. Your timely responses will help us finalize the membership and make the necessary arrangements for a successful event.

High School String Audition Dates & Info

August 28 -  String Registration Due - String Registration Form - $27- Release Form

September 15 - String Recording - Baton Rouge High HS

Middle School Audition Dates & Info

October 1 - Registration Due All MS Groups - Registration Form - $17

November 7 - Jazz & String Recordings - Central HS

November 14 - Band Hybrid* Audition - Central High School

*If necessary:

• Students may audition for a live judge and receive a score

• Every audition will be recorded

• High scores are sent to LMEA per allotment
