Pupils in exam classes have free access to the latest Adobe software in school and at home.

Code for Life

Rapid router has been created to teach the first principles of computer programming. It has over a 100 level to teach you about algorithms, loops, decisions and procedures using block code and python. There is a scoreboard where you can see your progress and you can also create your own levels.


iDEA - digital enterprise award

The Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, known as iDEA is an international award winning programme that helps you develop digital, enterprise and employability skills for free.

Through our series of online challenges, you can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry-recognised Awards that help you stand out from the crowd.



Minecraft Education edition

Minecraft: Education Edition is now available to Hwb users with Microsoft 365 licences.

Minecraft is also used in the curriculum to deliver engaging collaborative content.

Micro:bit

Learn how to get the micro:bit working, program its features and create your first projects.

The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that introduces you to how software and hardware work together. It has an LED light display, buttons, sensors and many input/output features that, when programmed, let it interact with you and your world.

Cyber Discovery

More than 100,000 young people took part in Cyber Discovery, progressing from an initial assessment phase into the vast, online cyber learning platform CyberStart.

Participants in CyberStart Game became agents for the virtual Cyber Protection Agency, attempting to stop criminal gangs from using their cyber skills to do damage online. Gamified challenges and lab exercises explored real-world cyber-attacks, highlighting the vital role that cyber security experts play in protecting our hospitals, banks, army, police services and more.

Important technical skills and security concepts were taught within an engaging storyline, utilising hundreds of hours of fun, hands-on exercises that spanned multiple cyber security disciplines.

code.org

Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. Their vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science as part of their education.

In school we complete modules on Computer Science, Games Design, Web site design and App design.


Tarian

The TARIAN Regional Cyber Crime Unit (RCCU) now has dedicated ‘Cyber Prevent’ officers whose role is to prevent young people from committing cyber crime and/or re-offending. The aim of the Cyber Prevent team is to identify and divert individuals from continuing down a criminal pathway, the team have also implemented a referral process that allows schools to refer individuals to Tarian in order for us to raise awareness of The Computer Misuse Act 1990 and signpost individuals to places where they can use their skills in a positive and ethical way.
