JMSS Panther Clubs and Teams

John McGregor Secondary School offers many opportunities to participate in a variety of clubs and teams. From Athletics to the Art Club to Trading Cards and Gaming, there is a place for everyone.

This list includes all clubs and teams that have run in the past, prior to the pandemic.

All requests for new or past clubs will be considered. The operation of the teams or clubs will be dependent on whether we have enough student interest as well as a staff to support them.

Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

The Gender and Sexuality Alliance  is a group meant to foster awareness, promote education and provide a forum for discussion about issues of sexuality.

John McGregor has the longest running GSA group in Chatham-Kent.

The Gender and Sexuality Alliance encourages acceptance and tolerance within the diverse population of our school, promotes pride in our community, creates a safe environment for all students of JMSS, and educates the school community.

One of our goals is to break down the silence surrounding questions of sexuality and gender identification in order to create a place of support, respect, pride and safety for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members of our school community.

Drama Club

The Drama Club is made up of a group of students who want to further explore their dramatic forms and techniques as actors or producers through events such as the NTS (National Theatre Drama School).

Mr. Mitchell provides all of the details in his video!

Auto-Tech Club

Auto-Tech Club to the Rescue

When Naomi's bike was mangled in a bike collision, Tim and Richard straighten the drive gears, aligned the chain and chain guard, and tightened the kickstand. Bike repair and maintenance is one of the services provided by our auto-tech club. The club meets Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Club members repair and service roller blades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, lawnmowers, snowblowers, cars, trucks and lots of other types of machines. They design and modify vehicles as well.

Auto-Tech Club off to the races

The tech club also builds a race car each year. We convert a small sedan into an official bone stock class race car and race it at Delaware Speedway.

Any JMSS student is welcome to come out to the club.

Art After Hours

Art After Hours meets every Wednesday from 2:30-4:00. It is an opportunity for students to meet people with the same interests and promote creativity within our school community. Each week we play our original game called “Redacted Cubed” and cover the chalk board with hilarious and expressive illustrations. We are currently planning to complete two school murals this year and we help organize community art initiatives here at JMSS.

Thanks to Emma Fogarty, who is in grade 11, for all of her enthusiasm in the attached video!
