This will be my 10th year here at Chestnut Hill Middle School, but my 15th year teaching. Previously, I taught at four other districts around the state, but have finally settled in Syracuse. I am not originally from the Syracuse area, but have lived here for the last 12 years. I grew up outside of Rochester in a village called Churchville. I went to college at SUNY Fredonia for my Bachelor's degree in English Education and then continued on to complete my Master's in Literacy Education at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. I also earned another Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction a few years ago. In my first few years of teaching, I worked in some Rochester area schools, but after I got married, I moved out to the Syracuse area. After two years of working at LaFayette, I had to leave, but I was lucky enough to get a job at CHM. If you would like to know more about me, please read the student interest survey that I have all of my students fill out, but obviously, it's filled out by me.

Mr. Kurzen and I, and Harper, when we can bring her, like to travel. We've been all over the East Coast, to the Rockies and Cascades, and to several counties in Europe. Harper loves to hike and swim, and so do we!
