Taylor Swift Reaches Billionaire Status

Taylor Swift, American singer-songwriter, recently became a billionaire last week after months of touring. Swift led the industry's leading concert tour with staggering numbers. The Eras Tour has somehow gained more and more attention even after a year's worth of venues, with prices rising after each and every tour. A movie was even released containing footage from the concert shows. The movie has grossed an enormous 200 million dollars, adding even more to Swifts ever growing wealth.

Taylor Swift joins other billionaire musicians such as Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Paul McCartney. She was recently listed as the tenth richest musician in the world, and the 5th female musician ever to cross the billion dollar mark. The Eras Tour alone has grossed an insane 5.7 Billion dollars, and was the best selling tour in the United States in 2023. 

This does raise concerns that ticket prices may be getting absorbently high and is bad for the industry. Many have spoken out about ticket websites such as Ticketmaster, price gouging fans that are desperate to see their idols. People Magazine reported that the price of concert tickets have doubled in the last 5 years. 

Taylor Swift has reached an insane and insurmountable level of success, and no one can take that from her as much as some may try. However with the increase of fame and grossing on not only her brand, but the concerts and venues as well, it begs the question of if the ticket prices will swell even more. Only time will tell.
