The 80’s are back! With the addition of a roller rink, Liverpool has gone back in time.
Skate N’ Place, owned by Carly Halsey, has just opened Nov. 15 where Aspen Athletic Club formerly resided at the Seneca Mall and has had a packed house every night. With a $12 fee before 4 p.m, $15 entry fee after 4 p.m and $5 skate rental, the rink is open for skating, parties, and also has an arcade and food bar. The company has taken precaution as during the night openings, a sheriff will be located outside the door, wanding everyone who enters. There is also no re-entry.
The experience of going to Skate N’ Place is one to have with your family and friends. On Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. parents of children eight years or younger skate for free.
The rink itself is fairly large and is paired with dim lighting and strobes. With hits from the 80’s playing over the loudspeakers, skating with a groove is as easy as can be.
The highest concentration of people are groups of high school friends. Liverpool High School senior Khai Anderson was asked whether he thought it was a good idea to open a rink. “I think it’s cool,” Anderson replies. Although he hasn’t been, he believes that the option of a roller rink for a weekend of fun is a great idea.
It doesn’t matter if you know how to skate or not, the rink is open for everyone, yet not as experienced skaters are told to stay towards the center of the floor. So go on out to Skate N’ Place with your friends and enjoy a skate, arcade games, and the snack bar.
The rink holds skating lessons every Saturday. From 9:30 - 10 a.m., any child eight years or younger can get lessons for $10. That is also the same for people nine years or older for 12 - 1 p.m.
