Winter is coming. Though it hasn’t seemed like it recently. Through this past week of October 23rd to today, the 26th, the lowest high-temperature we saw was 56 degrees and highest was clocked in at almost 80 degrees, at a nice summer temperature of 77. This coming Friday has a high of 76. This warm weather came basically out of nowhere, as we are in the last coming days of October, heading towards winter.
Don’t get too excited about this nice weather though. The forecast predicted that Saturday into Wednesday looks a bit more normal for the late fall–early winter season that we are in.
Early winter is a weird phrase to use in October. Normally, early winter is considered the end of November and beginning of December. Winter weather is actually going to begin soon. This coming Tuesday, Halloween, the high temperature is only 46 degrees and the weather conditions are described as “Bone Chilling” by LocalSyr.com. You can expect a few showers and maybe even a couple snowflakes in higher elevations. The next day, the first of November, you can expect a high in the mid-40s and a chance of rain and or snow showers.

The most interesting part about the coming weather is that nobody is really talking about it. Snow in October is actually very rare. The last time it really snowed in October in Central New York was in 2008. So, the chance that we might get snow on Halloween of all days is very mind boggling and no one seems to really care.
Of course, weather predictions are only that, predictions. Which means that snow isn’t guaranteed. What is guaranteed is the fact that it will still be very cold on Halloween day, so parents and children, make sure to stay warm and bundle up when going trick or treating.
