Things to Know
The Live Oak Singers is an LGBTQ & friends chorus comprised of individuals from various backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities who share a common goal of building bridges through music across the varying spectrum of our cities' local communities.
The Live Oak Singers is a four part harmony mixed chorus. Male, female, and non gender specific individuals are welcome to join. Your vocal range will determine your categorization as a Bass, Tenor, Alto, or Soprano.
The Live Oak Singers are a dues based chorus, which means that every member contributes a fixed monetary amount to help with overhead expenses. These expenses include music, accompanist fees, instrumentalists, technical production specialists, insurance, ect. Dues are currently $100 for each season, payable monthly over 5 months ($20 per month). Discounted rate set at $90 if paid all at once. If money is a concern, do not let that keep you from joining as scholarships are available.

A Message from our President
The LOS board of directors continues our mission to serve the San Antonio community through philanthropy, outreach, and musical performance. We hope the playful themes of our various performances will delight you while also fulfilling your need for quality music.
This New Year may we all embrace those in our lives who contribute so much to us. Unfortunately, many people in the LGBTQ community have experienced rejection from those closest to them, to include family and friends. This is when many turn to a “Family of Choice”, where they find acceptance rather than rejection.
I am so very thankful to our late founding Artistic Director, Ron Casola; that I am able to continue to call the Live Oak Singers a huge part of my “Family of Choice”!
It's comforting in a very real way, but can also be jarring. In the real world, not everyone is going to get you, not everyone is going to understand or even tolerate your sexuality or gender identity. After being around people so accepting and caring, going back to your previous life is quite a juxtaposition, because sometimes you forget that not everyone is as wonderful as your chosen family. During this New Year and always, it is important that we support each other.
"We, as gay people, we get to choose our family and the people we're around" -- RuPaul Charles
