Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering - Immigrated to U.S. before graduation.
This is where my journey to become a nuclear engineer begins...
Fall of 2008 - It was my love of physical sciences and my strong desire to be a professional engineer that drove me to pursue a nuclear engineering bachelor’s degree at Alexandria University's faculty of engineering, a field that isn't very popular in my country of origin, Egypt, for being a highly specialized field of study, but perhaps that's what I liked the most about it. It wasn't very long before I completely fell in love with nuclear engineering. After four years of studying engineering, three of which was nuclear, and before my graduation, I immigrated with my family to the United States in November 2011.
Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology - GPA: 3.76

Transferring directly into a nuclear engineering program after moving to the U.S. wasn't an easy task, neither it was affordable to me...
Thomas Edison State University (TESU) is known for it's flexible learning methods. It offered me a unique opportunity to transfer almost all of my credit hours obtained from Alexandria University. Moreover, it allowed me to complete the ABET accredited Nuclear Energy Engineering Technology Program requirements through an online program that enabled me to study while supporting my immigrant family struggling in pursuit of a life in dignity in America.
Master of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering - GPA: 4.00
Graduated: May, 2017
Shortly after graduating from TESU, I came to the realization that my knowledge base was limited given my ultimate professional goals...
I subsequently applied to the master’s degree program in nuclear engineering at Penn State in the Fall of 2015. Penn State is a top-tier university, and it's nuclear engineering program is among the best graduate nuclear engineering Programs in the United States, according to U.S. News. Penn State’s online Master of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering offered a flexible platform like that of TESU, one that allowed me to keep supporting my family while pursuing my masters. Penn State’s program was outstanding, and greatly broadened my background in nuclear engineering.
