Below you can find general info for both Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1

AFTER SCHOOL HELP DAY: TBD

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • 1.5 inch binder with 5 dividers

  • Calculator (regular four functions or scientific if in Pre-Algebra and Graphing Calculator- TI-84 recommended for Algebra I)

  • 4 dry-erase markers

  • Pencils

  • Math textbook

  • Planner

  • Graph paper and notebook paper

MATH BINDER:

Your math binder is created by you each day throughout the year. It will contain all of your notes, graphic organizers, handouts, class work, homework, assessments and skill drills. The binder will become a portfolio of everything you will learn and do in math this year. You will need to bring this binder with you everyday to class and home.

Your math binder should be divided into 5 sections(will be put together in class):

Five sections:

1. Problem of the Day

2. Notes/Classwork

3. Skill drills

4. Homework

5. Assessments

GRADING:

Quizzes 35% - Taken periodically over several lessons at the end of the week.

Tests 35% - Given at the end of each of chapter. Students will be informed days prior to tests. Tests are much more comprehensive and show an understanding of the entire unit.

Skill Drills 20% - due every week on Friday

Homework 10%- See below for details

HOMEWORK:

Homework assignments are important because new concepts are taught daily and must be practiced. Students should expect homework each night. Homework assignments will be posted on this website under Pre-Algebra or Algebra I. In order to receive full credit, your homework assignment must follow the following requirements:

1. The problems and work should be neatly written which means:

  • work should be done on lined or graph paper

  • title the paper with the page of the homework and the problems assigned

  • number the problems

  • show work for all problems

  • box or circle the final answer
