Step 1 - WIFI Connection

Step 2 - Power Saving

Your HP Laptop has a good battery life. However, prolonged use during the day may deplete your battery faster than you realise. Remember it is a students responsibility to have a fully charged device each day, no charging occurs at school.

To increase the battery life of your device please follow the steps outlined in the 3 image steps to the left.

Step 3 - Download and install Chrome

Watch the following video to demonstrate how to download and install Chrome and complete the install on your device.

Step 4 - Understanding MOTTO Infringements

Please watch this video as a class to understand SJRC's device expectations, your device responsibilities and how SJRC manages misuse.

Step 5 - Chrome Basics

Watch this video for the basic use of chrome. Once viewed please perform the tasks on your profile. You may need to individually re-watch the video using headphones.

Step 6 - Compass + Gmail

Watch the following video to demonstrate how you are expected to utilise Compass and Gmail. Please use your allocated time to browse compass and send your teacher an email titled "first day" and give them a brief overview of your impression of SJRC.

Step 7 - Submitting a Service Desk Request

If you have any issues or need assistance with your device, you will need to log a Service Desk request. Watch the video to left in order to familiarise yourself with the process. Discuss as a class the reasons why you may need to submit a help desk ticket.

Step 9 - Google Classroom

Watch the following video to ensure you can access Google Classroom, unenrolled from classes from last year, turn off Classroom notifications.

Notes for teachers -

Create a classroom called - "PHASE 2 IT SETUP" and have all students in your room enrol. Please check the classroom participants against the roll. If you have time, create an assignment called - First Impressions of High School. Students will upload the document in the next step

Step 10 - Creating Docs

Watch the following video to understand how to correctly create and name your documents in Google Drive.

Create a new document called - First Impressions of High School in your TAS folder. Answer the questions below: -

What is one thing about high school that is exactly how you imagined it would be, and one thing that has completely surprised you so far?
Now that you are the youngest group in the school again, how have your feelings of responsibility or independence changed?"
Looking at the year ahead, what is one challenge you are slightly nervous to tackle, and one specific opportunity (a subject, sport, or club) you are really excited to try?
