Mr Dewhurst believes in the importance of a well-rounded education. Modelling his own learning journey on the classic Italian Uomo Universale, his passion is English literature and language but believes that the best learning comes from curiosity and questioning, philosophical interrogation and intellectual investigation.
Recognising the importance of both logical and lateral thinking, his educational journey has been a blend of both the critical and creative. For his HSC, whilst achieving in the 90th percentile for Mathematics 2 Unit, he also studied Visual Arts, 2 Unit Modern History, 3 Unit Related English and 2 Unit Legal Studies. This blend of the humanities and STEM is mirrored in his two degrees: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (English & History), followed by a Master of Education in ICT.
Passionate about academic achievement, he aims to foster creative and critical thinking in the HP&G program, beyond the confines of the curriculum, to foster agility of the brain and enable a critical and ethical lens through which we came navigate and traverse the world.
