2 units for each of Year 11 and HSC / Board Developed Course
Course Description
Dance is a creative discipline where the body translates and expresses the world. By blending technical mastery and safe practice with innovative choreography, students communicate powerful ideas through a professional lens. The course develops higher-order thinking and self-discipline by analysing professional works, including the deep cultural protocols and connections to Country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. By balancing creation with physical refinement, students find their signature voice and build a goal-oriented mindset, turning creative vision into high-impact reality.
Course Content
The Dance 11–12 Syllabus is structured around the key Dance practices of performance, choreography and appreciation, which form the focus areas. In the Year 11 course, the emphasis is on the discrete and explicit study of the focus areas. In the Year 12 course, students synthesise their knowledge, understanding and skills both in and across the focus areas.
