ECSE and Pre-K Teacher at Lisle Elementary School
We are happy to say that Mrs. Terri is again the paraprofessional in Mrs. Diane's AM and PM classes this year. This school year is Mrs. Terri's third year working in Lisle. She came to Lisle with many years of experience as a special education paraprofessional in many western suburbs. Mrs. Terri lives in Lisle with her husband, Greg, and dog, Buddy. We are lucky to have her at LES and working with Mrs. Diane daily.
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will always know their children better than anyone else. The first teacher of every child is their parent(s)/guardian(s).
Children learn best through a combination of discovery learning (while they play) and direct teaching.
Children must feel safe before they can learn in any environment.
When working on a fine motor activity, the process is more important than the end product.
Being "ready" for school means:
-having good listening skills
-following directions
-paying attention
-sharing and cooperating with peers and teachers
-practicing self-control
-practicing task persistence (completing a task in spite of distractions, physical or emotional discomfort, or lack of immediate success)
