Admission

Admission Criteria

  1. Students must be enrolled in LISD to apply for admission.

  2. LISD may only accept 10% of the enrollment of any campus in LISD into the virtual academy.

  3. Students must have passed all classes with all A's and B's from the previous year. A report card must be submitted with application.

  4. Students must have met the minimum attendance criteria of 90% attendance from the previous year in order to be admitted.

  5. Students who were considered truant or were referred to truancy court during the 2021-2022 school year are not eligible for admission.

  6. Student must have met the Meets or Masters standard on Reading and Math STAAR on the 2022 administration or the 2022 Beginning of Year Assessment (if the student did not take a 2022 STAAR test).

  7. Student must possess proficient technology skills.

  8. Student must take all campus and district common assessments on campus at the student's home campus.

  9. Student must be a self-driven learner and able to follow a learning schedule independently.

  10. Student must be confident in asking for help from the teacher or parent when they experience difficulties.

  11. Exceptions to the admission criteria will only be granted if a written request meets the following criteria:

    1. The written request accompanies the completed application by the deadline,

    2. The written request is presented to the campus principal for review,

    3. The principal approves the written request and refers it to LISD ESC for approval, and

    4. LISD approves the written request.
