Technology Students Association

The Foster Middle School TSA chapter will begin the second six weeks of school working on their projects. This program offers numerous avenues to compete on a national stage. Because of the variety of events, students are able to find their niche. Students work within small groups on certain events and also get a chance to shine in individual competition. For four years in a row Foster students have advanced to national competition.

Math Science Team

The Math Science Team will begin after school practices not long after the school year begins. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student is welcome to participate. Students may compete in any or all of the following competitions: number sense, calculator, general math, and science. Each year, Foster MS qualifies several students for the state competition in San Antonio! Hope to see you on that bus this year!

UIL Competition

Get ready, because UIL starts early. Coaches will be looking for those kids ready to represent Foster in UIL competition. Competitors will meet with their coaches early in the year to prepare for the competition. The coaches will post their sign ups sheets and schedules during the first six weeks of school. Students can compete in more than one event. Some examples include Art, Spelling, Dictionary Skills, Modern Oratory, Impromptu Speaking, General Math, Calculator, and many more. Share your talent and represent your school.

Model United Nations

If debate and thinking about global problems interest you, then Model United Nations may be just the project for you. Read on for a description of the project.

From Region 7

Model United Nations is a long-term simulation in which gifted students in grades 6-12 can research the social, political, and economic factors and issues that determine the identity of a sovereign state. The research culminates in a two-day Model United Nations meeting in which these students serve as delegates from their chosen nation. Debates, resolution writing, student products, decision making, collaboration, problem solving, and persuasive, impromptu, and formal speaking all play a significant role in the success of each delegate and in the Model UN itself.

Students are also provided with myriad opportunities during the event to showcase their research through issue collages, maps, and a digital documentary and multimedia presentation.
