A FEDERAL TRIO PROGRAM
Kilgore College Upward Bound Program
Upward Bound (UB) provides support for income-eligible and first-generation high school students in preparation for college entry. The goal of UB is to increase the rate that participants complete high school, and that enroll in and graduate from college. KC UB serves Kilgore HS, Longview HS, and Pine Tree HS. We serve 50 students total per year.
We provide a number of services, including academic and personal counseling, assistance with college searches and application/admissions processes, academic study skills, and more. We have a variety of programming each year, including a 6-week summer academic program, college campus visits, cultural experiences, and volunteer opportunities.
We’re looking for students to join our program beginning in Fall 2024! Our focus right now is on 9th grade students, but we can also consider 10th and 11th graders. At this time, we cannot accept any 12th grade students. One of our goals for this year is to increase the number of students we serve at LHS.
