*see below for more detail

1) Just say no to straws: You can refuse straws at the point of sale and if you really need a straw, buy a metal, glass or bamboo alternative and carry it with you. (see Plastic Free Options)

2) Carry a reusable water bottle: These are available everywhere and Sydney water is safe to drink, often more so than the water contained in purchased bottles.

3) BYO keep cup. Avoid single-use coffee cups & LIDS: You can purchase a Keep Cup and carry it with you, keep one at work, and have some spares. (see Plastic Free Options)

4) BYO reusable cloth shopping bags: You can make your own or get some from retail outlets. (see Plastic Free Options)

5) Avoid plastic packaging: Take reusable produce bags or your own containers to bulk outlets

6) Buy in bulk: Outlets are popping up everywhere and buying in bulk online also reduces packaging

7) BYO takeaway containers: These can be purchased or just take your own

8) BYO reusable utensils: These can be purchased or just take your own

Your local Council will provide information about Compost bins that are available in your area and lots of other information about composting.

11) Put pressure on manufacturers

When you buy a product that could be packaged more sustainably, let the maker know. They all have a "contact us" link and the more people that tell them where they are going wrong, the more likely they are to change.
